There is a beautiful simplicity to the way our joyful classes flow from the younger to the older grades; from the ancient to the modern world; from the humanities to the sciences; from mathematics to poetry; from writing to recitation; from athletics to the fine arts; and from faith to reason. Mind. Body. Spirit. We also hearken back to an older, more methodical, and less hurried way of learning, featuring such "old school" methods as phonics, math facts, Latin, cursive, diagramming sentences, public speaking, poetry, nature studies, civics, and patriotism. Ironically, these more traditional tools are more valuable than ever, especially in our fast-paced economy where critical thinking skills are at a premium.
There is also a logical rhythm and cyclical nature to our curriculum, presenting similar subjects and themes at different stages of a child's intellectual and moral development, which fortifies the learning that takes place at earlier ages, and builds confidence and maturity within the child. Finally, most of the learning takes place at school, with homework designed to reinforce previously learned concepts rather than introducing new material, creating less stress at home and inculcating, we pray, a lifelong love of learning.
The other pages of our "Academics" section of our website provides further details of our curriculum for each level and grade of our school. It is more of a "30,000" foot view of our academic approach rather than a blow-by-blow lesson plan for each class. If you have more precise and specific questions about our curriculum, our headmaster would be happy to answer those questions at [email protected].
