The “House System” is one of the traditions associated with Classical education, having its origin in the colleges at Oxford and Cambridge. The Houses provide a smaller, more focused community within the larger school, giving students additional opportunities to take ownership of school initiatives and answer the call to leadership. It also creates an atmosphere where house members challenge each other to live lives of heroic virtue and where students grow in understanding of their responsibility to the wider community.
Specifically at SFCCA,
Each House will elect a leader, known as a Prefect, who will help plan activities and serve as a student representative.
There will be good natured competitions and other opportunities for the Houses to earn points throughout the year.
The House will the most points in June will win the SFCCA House Cup for 2024-2025.
Students can also earn points for their House by being awarded merits (or lose points by being given demerits).
Each of our Houses is named for an American saint.
